International Day of Sign Languages

On the occasion of International Sign Language Day, Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre, along with the Principal and students of Khrumdiengei School, organized a spirited rally from the Centre to Umbir village, carrying a message of inclusion, hope, and understanding. Every step of the journey echoed the courage and determination of our children, showing that their voices — though silent — are powerful and meaningful.

Upon reaching Umbir, the students performed a moving mime and a soulful song, touching the hearts of all present and beautifully conveying the importance of sign language as a bridge of communication and compassion. The event was graced by Mr. Purple Jones, Village Headman of Umbir, whose words of encouragement inspired everyone to continue supporting and valuing the Deaf community. The celebration was a poignant reminder that sign language is not just a means of communication — it is a language of dignity, identity, and the courage to be heard, felt, and understood.”
